The Brazen Altar

Someone might have told you this or you may have heard someone say "Don't cry for spilt milk, Clover is on its way".  When one is faced with situations it seems like you're losing everything that you've worked tirelessly for and just when you thought that all is falling into place, it all falls apart.

The Brazen Altar is an Altar of burnt offering, the place where natural, earthly things that hinder your walk with God are consumed by the fire of God. Not only is it a place of sacrifice but a preparation stage for the best. The best thing with facing challenges is knowing that the best is yet to come.

Even though we are made of flesh but when one goes through fire we ought to be the steel in the fire that still stands when ashes remain. We lose things that may have meant the world to us although we don't know that they are sacrifices for things to come that will mean the universe.

Holding on to things won't make things better if one wants what's best. It is said that we don't know what we have until it's gone, and it doesn't only apply for the good things. We see the worth of the sacrifice when something better comes along.

One thing that I'm still learning is that in life we lose what we love most without knowing that prolonging its company won't make life any better compared to the latter reward. Allow the presence of the Brazen Altar in your life, for it gives you the strength to grow and know that the best is still yet to come.

"Prolonging it won't make it your belonging." - Goitsemang Sandra Mvula

In Her Hands: Bleeding Dreams (Ink)

Life seems, to most us, a monotonous system where one believes in a certain way of making a living or following a specific routine that has been set and travelled before. The system consists of being born and religiously raised to follow certain oppressive means of living and making it in life.   Amongst a generation, born is a gene, amid the rational ones, who believes that climbing the same train that has rotated and still rotates in the destinations that are deemed to be of efficiency or of the “qualified,” is somewhat adamant to what she believes in. that gene doesn’t only exist in myself, but abides   in most of us.   Fear sometimes skips a generation, but in times that we live in, it is imposed and lives in every generation. The other imposes it then it transforms to be self-imposed fear. Courage , however, does not find comfort than fear does in such minds, for it is not a quality that religiously lives in the life of a black man, as it is...

Crouching Misdemeanours

“The earth is at peace, there is no hunger, there is no violence, the environment is healed. Honesty, courtesy and kindness are practiced by all. Our world has never been more perfect. Only it is no longer our world, we have been invaded by an alien race. They occupy the bodies of almost all human beings on this planet. The few humans who have survived are on the run.”   These words are from a movie translation of a book called ‘The Host’ by Stephenie Meyer. It may seem like I tend to do more of movie review posts, but truth is I’m more inclined to watch a movie or read a book more than three times to find what the book/movie is about under altered atmospheres. And every time I do so, I feel as if different people read it. Concerning these words from this movie, you may begin to wonder and imagine this kind of, “the earth at peace, no hunger and violence.” Then you begin to weigh it against reality, our reality is that these things do not exist everywhere, the contr...
